My name is Belle Caplis, and most everyone calls me Belle. I am an actress, writer and director in New York City. I was born and raised on a farm in south Bossier Parish, Louisiana and have lived in New York City for over a decade. I’m as comfortable on the subway in rush hour as I am on a four-wheeler in the mud. I'm just as likely to be caught watching football on my phone as wandering around the Whitney.
One of the most impressive things I've ever done is melt an automatic transmission into a solid block. No, yea, my father's mechanic said, "well, damn if that isn't the most impressive thing I've ever seen." Other accomplishments include completing the Maggie Flanigan Meisner Conservatory and working with NYC theatre companies such as The Shelter, Barefoot, La Mama, Nylon Fusion, and the LAByrinth.
I'm a character actress who this year alone played a dominatrix, a paranoid schizophrenic, meth head, a salty lush sidekick, and a worn out mom on the verge of a mental break. My jokes are flatline, my violence is unsuspecting, and my sex appeal is palpable. I like to think I add a special spiciness to every script I read and I work to stay truly uninhibited in my craft. My work has been called "versatile" and "accomplished" by critics, and “just marvelous!" by Lanford Wilson himself.
Looking forward to my next project!
